Rosedaline, the right depiction of a selfless African mother captured by Dennis Fofie

The heartfelt portrayal of a single African mother—drowning in countless debts, selling her finest clothes, and starving, all without shame—just to see not only her three children through preschool to tertiary education but others as well. She made it her life’s mission to support anyone who showed potential but lacked the means.

Even after suffering a stroke in November 2020, which left her battling atrophy, her unwavering dedication, boundless sacrifice, and fierce motherhood have nurtured dignitaries who now hold high offices in Ghana, Canada, and beyond.

I, too, felt the strength of her hand in mine on my very first day of preschool—and again on my first day of university.

Rosedaline, my grandmother—strong, resilient, and the heartbeat of generations.
